What’s new?
IOMAD 5.0 has a couple of nice new features, a number of minor improvements, and we’re already working on the 5.1 wishlist. We’re also heading to the GlobalMoot in September, so if you’d like to put a face to the code, come find us at the e-Learn Design booth…
New features
- The Moodle local Custom page maintained by bitascii dev has been incorporated into IOMAD and updated to allow for a company-specific condition for the audience. This will allow tenants to have their own custom dashboard page, where (if the capabilities are enabled for the Company manager role) they can manage themselves.
- IOMAD learning paths can now be sold via the internal IOMAD shop. Licenses are created and assigned automatically to support this.
Feature improvements
- Logging into or switching to tenants that use completely separate themes now displays the tenant theme instead of keeping the user’s current theme.
- Menu items for Redo certificates, Import completion information, and IOMAD user merge tools have been added to the IOMAD dashboard, removing the need to access them via the Site administration menus.
- Tags used for products in the shop are now tied to companies to provide better flexibility in what the user will see.
- Company managers can now set completion information for users within the course reports, rather than just being able to change it after the user has been marked as completed.
- Company managers can change the enrolment type in the Manage IOMAD courses settings page for courses for which they have editing rights.
- Course completion overview report updated to have a view to only show courses for which the users listed have an enrolment. This will allow managers to view only courses which are relevant to their staff, rather than seeing all of the courses available to the tenant. This report has also been updated to allow for different warning periods per tenant to highlight when courses are close to expiring.
- IOMAD themes have been updated to be child themes of the core Moodle themes.
- Default company settings for user preferences are now set from the global site settings.
- IOMAD shop products can now be created with all available license types.
- Tidy up of roles which can be restricted within the company context.
- Saving of certificates on course completion moved to an adhoc task, which ensures all of the course information is in place before the certificate is generated.
- Deleted or hidden course results will display for the user, just without links.
- The Guest account can now browse the IOMAD shop (purchasing still requires the user to log in or register).
- Various updates to allow PHP8.2+ to work.
If you want to try out these new features, or any of the improved IOMAD functionality, then our demo site will be updated over the next couple of days. You can also find the complete list of bug fixes since the IOMAD 4.5 (LTS) release here.
Have fun! Derick – Chief IOMAD developer
