Deneka is a Canadian who came to Scotland in 1999 to do her PhD at Glasgow University. She has 20+ years experience in distance and e-learning course delivery, designing both single courses and entire programmes for clients, as well as consulting on all issues related to e-learning strategy and the learner journey. She has been working with Moodle extensively since 2003. Deneka is passionate about the pedagogy of online learning and believes strongly in socially constructive learning design. She is an advocate for open source solutions and for creating communities and spaces online that engage both learners and teachers. As Lead Instructional Designer, Deneka primarily uses Core Moodle + Plugins to design interactive and ambitious learning programmes. Deneka also enjoys a position as Associate Lecturer for the Open University where she teaches on ‘Innovation and Openness in E-Learning’ as part of the Masters Programme in Distance and Online Learning.
Derick has worked for over 20+ years in the IT industry with most of that in a consultancy role. Specialising in Unix administration he has worked for a number of large blue chip companies from the service industry to investment banking. He has a BSC in Electronic Systems and Microcomputer Engineering and a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology. He is also RHCE certified. Derick now specialises in Moodle and Open Source Software and has been a core ELD developer since the company began in 2007.
Howard is a Moodle developer who has expertise in all aspects of the Moodle software. Howard is a very active member of the Moodle.org discussion forums where he regularly provides support and help to users world wide (which has led to him getting asked for autographs at Moodlemoots in Europe on occasion!:-)) He has worked for over 31 years in the IT industry in diverse roles including embedded systems development, support, system administration and as senior management in the marketing industry. He has spent a number of years working as a freelance consultant and working in Higher Education.
